Hezbollah Launches Financial Aid for War-Affected Families

Hezbollah announced a financial assistance package on 13 October 2026 for families whose homes were destroyed or damaged during the war with Israel. This conflict began on 8 October 2023 and escalated on 2 March 2026. Lebanon and Israel later signed a U.S.-brokered framework agreement on 26 June 2026 to end the fighting.

Sheikh Ali Daamoush, head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, described the aid as "a national necessity." Addressing the broader political context, Sheikh Ali Daamoush also criticized the recent truce, characterizing the agreement as "a series of gratuitous concessions and violations of the Constitution." The organization intends for these funds to address the urgent housing needs of affected residents following the cessation of hostilities between the two nations.

Scope of Financial Assistance

Hezbollah specified that families residing in Beirut and its southern suburbs are eligible to receive up to $14,000 in financial assistance. This funding is intended to support households impacted by the destruction or damage of their properties during the conflict.

Separate provisions apply to residents located in other parts of Lebanon. Families in these regions are eligible for up to $12,000 in assistance to address their housing requirements. The organization structured these payments based on the geographic location of the affected properties. These financial allocations represent the core of the aid package announced by Hezbollah on 13 October 2026 to assist displaced or impacted populations across the country.

Distribution and Program Structure

Hezbollah will distribute the financial aid through the "Promise and Commitment" program in four quarterly installments. Sheikh Ali Daamoush, head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, described the initiative as "a religious and moral promise and commitment to our patient and self-sacrificing people."

Under the payment schedule, the first installment provides $3,500 to beneficiaries located in Beirut and its southern suburbs. Residents in other areas of Lebanon will receive a first installment of $3,000. These payments are slated to reach eligible families in regular intervals as part of the organization's broader recovery strategy. The distribution structure ensures that the total aid packages announced on 13 October 2026 are delivered to households in consistent stages throughout the upcoming year.

Context of Displacement Crisis

The ongoing war has resulted in the displacement of 1.2 million people across Lebanon. Data indicates that 350,000 of these individuals remain unable to return to their homes as of 13 October 2026. This population represents a significant portion of those impacted by the destruction of residential infrastructure during the conflict.

A report released last week stated that Iran transferred $200 million to Hezbollah. The funds are designated to assist the displaced families who have been affected by the war. These resources are intended to support the financial recovery efforts currently managed by the organization.
